Pianist, Composer & Professor of Music Composition
Fahim Momtazi, born in Tehran in 1958, embarked on his musical journey at the University of Tehran's Faculty of Fine Arts in 1976, concluding his studies in 1980. He initiated his piano studies under Pari Barkeshli and furthered his musical education in form and harmony with M. Taghi Massoudieh and Shahin Farhat, and counterpoint with Hormoz Farhat.
In July 2012, Fahim Momtazi was honored with the title of "Professor of Music Composition" by the International Art Academy in Greece, acknowledging his outstanding contributions to music education and composition. This award reflects his esteemed status in the music community and his dedication to advancing the field.
Momtazi has made significant contributions to children's music, striking a balance between mass appeal and artistic depth, embodying the philosophy that music should engage both lay audiences and aficionados alike. Momtazi's discography includes four albums primarily in the children's music genre, notably "For the First Grades", "My Mom and I 1 & 2", and "Beyer through the Orchestra", complemented by a three-volume book series "Young Pianists" with accompanying audio CDs.
Fahim Momtazi's artistic philosophy, deeply influenced by Leo Tolstoy's "What is Art?", emphasizes music's accessibility and universality. He aspires for his works to connect with both the general public and the musically educated, mirroring Charlie Chaplin's universal appeal in cinema. Momtazi believes in the power of art to communicate profound messages without elitism, striving to make music that is appreciable by a broad audience without sacrificing depth or complexity. This approach reflects his commitment to creating music that resonates across societal divides, challenging the notion that art is only for the cultivated few.
